THE PIRATES PLAYER PATHWAY

There should always be a next step.

Players develop at different speeds. The pathway is there so juniors and new players can see what progression can look like without feeling they need to be "ready" before they belong.

FOR KIDS & PARENTS

Junior floorball.

A place to learn the sport, make friends and keep growing. Pirates currently fields mixed Under 12 and Under 14 teams, with a pathway into senior floorball as players develop.

  • Beginners can start without prior floorball experience

COMING FROM HOCKEY?

Your skills already translate.

Floorball is indoors, fast and much lighter on equipment. Players from field and ice hockey usually recognise the movement, passing and positional ideas immediately.

Become a Pirate, not just someone who trains here.

Belonging matters, especially for younger players. Pirates' senior teams include players who began in its junior program, and senior players already help coach the next generation. That connection is part of what makes the club a place to keep playing as you grow.

A pathway only matters if people can picture themselves on it. Pirates is building around the ways players actually arrive at the sport.

HOCKEY → FLOORBALL

Ten years of field hockey. Then a new indoor sport.

One route into floorball started after a decade of field hockey, continued through university floorball, and became long-term club play. The stick skills transferred quickly; indoor courts and lighter equipment made it easy to keep playing.

JUNIOR → SENIOR

The next team should already be visible.

Many of today's Pirates Division 1 players progressed through the club's junior program. Senior players also contribute to junior coaching. It's an existing pathway worth strengthening, not a promise we're starting from scratch.

Pirates was Perth's first floorball club and has helped create places for the sport to be played and developed in WA. The point of that history is not simply being first — it is continuing to make it easier for the next person to start.
